“The Boy with the Taco (El Niño del Taco) by Diego Rivera

1) Description: I see a boy who is eating a taco. The boy is resting up on some bags. The boy has short hair and he has a tan skin tone. There is also a dog that is just starring at him. The dog is very thin and his ribs are showing. In the background you can see some hills and plains. Also it looks like there is a house in the background. It looks like he is sitting under a ladder.

2) Analysis: this image has no color because it is just a drawing. “The Boy with the Taco” has straight lines and curves. It uses straight lines on the ladder and on the buildings. The drawing contains curves along the little boys arm and the objects in the background. This piece of art is a 2D design and does not have any noticeable patterns.  The artist Diego Rivera portrays this little boy under a ladder with little space left unused.

3) Interpretation: This drawing was done by Diego Rivera in 1932. During the 1930’s The great depression hit the U.S. and had some effects in Mexico. I believe that this drawing shows the situation in Mexico. It shows how many people including children were struggling to find food. The way the dog is looking at taco and by his ribs showing can portray his hunger. Also the boy is sitting outside under a ladder which can represent him being homeless. By Diego Rivera doing this it shows the situation in Mexico and the struggle it is to find food and other simple necessities to live.

4) Judgment: This artwork is successful. It portrays the situation in Mexico after the Great Depression and it shows the struggle people are going through. just by looking at the artwork you can see that the boy and the dog are hungry. The way Diego Rivera drew this is good because it portrays his main point.

3D Design: Guitar

guitar guitar 2

For my 3D design I chose to make a guitar because guitars are a big part of my life. I became interested in playing the guitar because my uncle was watching a video of Johnny Cash playing and I thought it was strange. So for my 6th birthday my parents bought me a guitar. For the first 3 years I playing the guitar often, but then I just stopped. I stopped for about 4 years and my guitar was just sitting there, but I started playing it again in 10th grade. The guitar is a power instrument and it allows people to express themselves. Also playing the guitar can be a fun way to pass time.

Project Reflection: Advertisement

I have learned many things while working on this project. Before this assignment I didn’t know how to use Photoshop and I was confused about how to use the tools, but now I feel capable of using it on my own. So I think my biggest accomplishment was learning to use Photoshop. The project was simple, but it had lots of tedious work. So I think the most difficult part was cropping out each layer so that we could put them together into one coherent image. The three Photoshop skills that I applied were setting up the original layout. I also helped on getting rid of the background in big images. The last thing that I helped my partner with was putting in shapes. I suggest that they don’t play around and they take their work seriously. Many simple mistakes can be made while working on Photoshop. So it would be smart to save your project evry once in a while so that nothing will erase. The six adjectives that best describe our project is funny, amusing, interesting, persuasive, elaborate, and cohesive.

Are Robots Taking Our Jobs?

Who: The Hen-na Hotel

What: A hotel in which 90% of the labor is done by robots

Where: Nagasaki, Japan

When: July 2015

Why: There will be lower labor cost, which means that the hotel will have lower prices

How: They are going to make most of the staff robots. The only people they will hire are the people that have to maintain the robots. They are going to hire people to make the robots and they have to program them to do there intended job.

Discussion Questions

  1. Do you think it’s a good idea to have a hotel that aims to have 90% of the service done by robots?
  2. Would you want to stay at a hotel that is maintained mostly by robots?
  3. Do you see any downsides to this idea?

Visual Metaphor Project

For my visual metaphor i will be working with Yander Grajeda and our subject will be about gun control in America. we chose this because America is dealing with people who don’t have morals that are purchasing and using guns for evil purposes.

This first image shows that with gun control criminals will still find a way to have weapons and more people will end up dying, but the second images shows that people with the right requirements should be allowed to have guns in order to protect themselves.

The image shows that guns should be placed in a sucre place in which people can obtain them to protect themselves from any criminals.

Project Reflection: Idealism

  1. I am proud of everything our group has done with this project. We were able to work together as one and make a cohesive project. The greatest accomplishment, for me, with this project was being able to create and edit a symbol for our group. First i had to remove the background from the image. Then i had to add a filter so that it would not be plagiarism.
  2. The most challenging part of this project was figuring out how to explain the philosophy. We understood what it was but we didn’t know how to explain it.
  3. I assisted my group by showing them how to edit a photo on powerpoint. I also taught my group how to rearrange the order of objects on word. Lastly I assisted my group by helping them find information for the five W’s and one H.
  4. i advise future student to not mess around in class. they should do there work and focus. Also don’t procrastinate because then your grade will go down for late homework.
  5. our project can be described in many ways. First I would say that our project is fun and informative. Also our project is simple and interesting. lastly our project is strong and brief.

Emotivism: 5 W’s & 1 H

Who: Alfred Jules Ayer b. October 29th 1910, London England. Charles Leslie Stevenson b. June 27th 1908, Cincinnati, Ohio. David Hume b. April 26th 1711, Edinburgh United Kingdom.

What: An ethical theory regards ethical and value judgements as expressions o feelings or attitudes and of action, rather than assertions or reports of anything. // The assertion that all individual ethical judgments are purely expressions of one’s own attitude intended to change the actions or attitudes of others.

Where: United Kingdom

When: 1751 D.H 1936 A.J.A

Why: It teaches that moral statements are meaningless. For Ayer, the question of the meaning of emotivism was important because it represented a potentially fatal objection.

How: Emotivism was influenced by the growth of analytic philosophy and logical positivism in the 20th century. It was officially stated by A.J. Ayer in the 1936 book, “Language, Truth and Logic” but was mainly developed by C.L Stevenson.

Feminism

Mary Wollstonecraft, seen as the first feminist philosopher because she wrote, A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, in 1792. Her  comparison of the sexes during the 18th century was seen as a “danger of intellectual and moral sloth” because of the barrier between men and women. This argument is noted as the first feminist argument. Otto_Scholderer_Lesendes_Mädchen
